First, celebrate that you’ve completed 8 weeks of an exercise program!
The fact that you’ve committed and worked hard SHOULD be celebrated! You’ve seen firsthand just how much stronger you are, now that you’ve had your post-Start Smart assessment. So what comes next?
Smart Strength’s Customization Criteria
From here going forward, you’ll be asked the following questions every ~20 sessions:
- Do you have any orthopedic issues I need to know about?
- What are your goals? (They may have changed!)
- How has the intensity of the workouts been?
- Is there anything else I can do to be of service to you?
From those answers, I modify the routine, and then we work it, retesting your strength after that 20 session period and then asking the questions again. The goal is simple: Strength, For LIfe!
We won’t test forever; at some point you’re about as strong as you’re ever going to be, but for our first year together you can count on being tested every 8 to 12 weeks.
Finally, when selecting an exercise or modality going forward, anything we do will fit the following criteria:
- Intense
- Brief
- Infrequent
- Safe
- Sustainable
If it doesn’t fit, we don’t do it. Remember: we’re optimizing for longevity, so we always bias toward results without the risk. Now that’s Smart!
